Cold recycling was first introduced in the 1970s, referring to the regeneration of road surfaces at ambient temperatures for use in road renovation and resurfacing projects. The construction personnel will mill the asphalt road to the original aggregate size and then add adhesive. After re laying the asphalt pavement, lay a wearing layer on top of it; On high traffic roads, the wear layer can be another layer of asphalt, while on low traffic roads, it can be a slurry seal or gravel seal.

Compared with off-site cold recycling, on-site cold recycling has higher efficiency, lower cost, and fewer emissions because all materials are extracted and reused at the work site.
